What is Split Pea?

The Split Pea Press was established, in 1987, to publish books reflecting the interests of its founders - books which, however worthy, would not be undertaken by commercial publishers seeking a substantial profit margin. Each publication contains something of our enthusiasm and represents a personal effort. Each makes, we hope, a contribution to the world's knowledge, scholarship or amusement.

Most of our orders come directly to us and our prices include postage and packaging. These prices are, in UK terms, non-net and agents and booksellers are free to place whatever premium they like on top of them. We work on a shoestring, at the kitchen sink, but try to manage at least one publication a year. This depends, however, on whether income can both pay off existing debts and provide sufficient over to invest in something new.

We welcome contact with those who share our enthusiasms. We satisfy ourselves, not any particular manifesto or programme, in what we do.
